Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an account?

Download SharePay from the App Store or Google Play. Enter your phone number and verify it with the OTP code sent to you. That's it — no passwords needed.

How do I add an expense?

Tap the "+" button in the app, enter the amount and description, select a group (optional), choose a category, and pick how to split it — equally, by percentage, or custom amounts.

How does expense splitting work?

When you add an expense to a group, SharePay automatically calculates each member's share. You can split equally among all members, by percentage, or set custom amounts for each person.

What does "Settle Up" mean?

Settling up means recording that a payment was made to resolve a debt. SharePay calculates the simplest way to settle — minimizing the number of transactions needed. The actual payment happens between you and the other person (cash, bank transfer, UPI, etc.).

Does SharePay handle real money?

No. SharePay is an expense tracker, not a payment app. It tracks who owes what and records when debts are settled, but actual money transfers happen outside the app using whatever method you prefer.

How do I invite someone to a group?

Open the group, tap the invite/share button, and send the generated invite link to your friend via any messaging app. They can join the group by clicking the link.

Can I use SharePay without a group?

Yes. You can add non-group expenses to track personal spending between friends without creating a formal group.

How do I delete my account?

You can request account deletion through the app settings or by visiting our Data Deletion page. Your data will be removed within 30 days.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we use secure token-based authentication. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
